FAQs
whAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis, or trance, is a totally relaxed state of being. You are fully in control and aware of what is happening to you and around you. You can bring yourself back to fully conscious whenever you want. You cannot and will not be asked to do anything against your will.Is hypnotherapy safe?
Hypnotherapy is completely safe and is a legitimate form of therapy. It is recognised by the NHS although treatment on the NHS is rarely available. They recommend you choose a qualified professional. I am qualified in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy from the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy. Can everyone be hypnotised?
Most people can experience hypnosis to some degree, as long as they are open to the process. The depth of trance varies from person to person, but the therapeutic benefits can be achieved regardless of how deeply you go. I'll guide you every step of the way, and we'll work together to find what works best for you.what happens at the first session?
Following our informal online chat, we will meet for your initial consultation where I will gather some personal information from you. This will help guide your treatment. I will answer any questions you have and address any concerns you may have. The first session may include a relaxation hypnosis session and subsequent sessions will address the reasons why you are seeking treatment.Hypnotherapy for birth - is it for anyone?
Using hypnotherapy for your birth is about increasing your sense of control no matter what type of birth you have. A focused and relaxed mind helps you to make the decisions that are best for you and your baby. Is hypnotherapy only useful for those planning a ‘natural’ birth?
Using hypnotherapy for your birth is about increasing your sense of control, irrespective of how your baby arrives into the world. You can use it to help to prepare for a home birth, a hospital birth, even a Caeserean. I do run sessions for those who have opted for an elective Caesarean to help to prepare for what that involves and how to heal afterwards.Does my partner need to attend?
Antenatal birth preparation classes provide valuable techniques for both you and your partner as well as supporting those approaching birth alone. Classes allow you to feel prepared and positive about the birth of your child. If your partner can attend, it is important that they do so. However if it is not possible for them to attend, please get in touch for a chat. It is likely that we can work around this. If you don’t have a partner or are planning to birth without your partner present, hypnotherapy will still work for you: many women have had great births without a partner present.
“I found your (hypnobirthing) course incredibly helpful. In the run up to the birth, I used your handbook and MP3s again and again to soothe and reassure me and to prepare me for what lay ahead. Thank you for playing a fundamental part in the safe delivery of my beautiful baby. I’ll never forget what you’ve done for us.”
